Repeat the same starting point
Measuring by eye is quick, but it adds uncertainty when comparing two cups. Weighing coffee and water gives you a repeatable starting point. Begin by knowing what you did.
Think in terms of ratio
Coffee quantity alone is not a complete recipe. It becomes meaningful alongside the amount of water. Start with a chosen ratio and evaluate strength and taste. No single recipe needs to fit every coffee and brewer.
Grind and pour
Grind influences water contact and movement through the coffee bed. Pouring is part of the process too. If you want a different result, review your notes and make one controlled adjustment.
Keep notes short
Write down the coffee, quantities, brewing method and one flavor you noticed. Repeat your starting point in the next brew. As observations accumulate, recipes become guides that you can understand and adapt.
